Grief After Loss, featuring Jocelyn Chamra-Barrera, LCSW with the Christi Center
Jocelyn Chamra-Barrera, LCSW, has been a social worker in the Central Texas community since 2014. She received her Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. She has extensive experience working with children, families and adults through her work at an Austin Family Resource Center, the local Child Advocacy Center and her work at the Christi Center.
Jocelyn began her work at the Christi Center as the Bilingual Support Coordinator, providing individual counseling and family support to Spanish-speaking clients after a loss. She coordinated the Kids Who Care program for families, providing community education and professional training to community agencies, schools and mental health professionals serving people who have experienced grief.
Jocelyn currently serves as the Director of Programs and Clinical Services, where she oversees all Christi Center programs and continues to support Spanish-speaking families and individual crime victim clients.
The Christi Center is an Austin-based grief center that serves Central Texas. They offer hope after the death of a close family member or friend by providing support networks, community education, and therapeutic activities that are free, peer-based and ongoing.
They also offer peer groups beginning at age 5, with groups depending on the type of relationships lost or death experienced. For more info, go to christicenter.org
