E.S.C.A.P.E. Retreat
E.S.C.A.P.E. (Empowering Sickle Cell Adults through Patient Empowerment) Retreat is a unique and one of a kind holistic health experience for sickle cell adults. This event is only for individuals with sickle cell disease, and it allows adults to engage in peer support, disease management education, learn of upcoming trials, pain management tools, mental health support, a men’s track, a woman’s track and creates new connections to successfully navigate life with sickle cell disease.

Why should I attend ESCAPE Retreat?
Adults, why would you not want to attend our retreat? Our pilot year, we only anticipated 10 adults to attend, but we had more than 30 individuals attend and some arrived from out of state to engage in this opportunity. Surveys after the event said that the programming, space, educational sessions, and activities were perfectly tailored to sickle cell adults. At ESCAPE Retreat we incorporate sickle cell education, disease management tools, vegan and nutritional health, yoga, meditation, counseling and mental health, peer support, awareness, and advocacy all while engaging in fun activities, too! The only requirement is you must know how to play spades or are willing to learn quickly!

Sponsoring the ESCAPE Retreat is a wonderful opportunity to engage directly with sickle cell adults in an intimate and unique setting. At ESCAPE Retreat we discourage powerpoint presentations but instead, we encourage one-on-one discussion opportunities for adults to fully engage.
